MACY?S PASSPORT PRESENTS GLAMORAMA COMES TO LOS ANGELES (Los Angeles)
Fashion Extravaganza Showcases Tommy Hilfiger; After Party Features Cat Cora,
Marcus Samuelsson and Nancy Silverton
Los Angeles? (August 23, 2010) ?Macy?s Passport Presents Glamorama 2010 four-city tour hits Los Angeles on Thursday, September 16 at 8 PM at the Orpheum Theatre. This extraordinary event, which has wowed audiences in Minneapolis and Chicago, includes live performances by Grammy award-winning singer Macy Gray and young hit-maker Eric Hutchinson, and exemplifies this year?s Passport theme: fashion, fantasy, music, magic.
This year?s show has a new look, venue and vibe. The show opens with a theatrical fantasy created by designer Chris March ? known by millions as a finalist on Season 4 of Bravo?s Project Runway. ?The show will be a magical experience of high fashion set against a multidimensional theatrical production with surprises at every turn, introducing 3-D holographic effects, elements of flight, visual vistas and the newest technology by Kinect? by Xbox 360®, all set against a larger-than-life LED video wall,? said Mike Gansmoe, Macy?s VP of Special Productions.
The show features a dynamic dance segment highlighting the Material Girl collection ? a line exclusive to Macy?s designed by Madonna and her teenage daughter Lola. LA?s own Brian Friedman, choreographer/judge on ?So You Think You Can Dance?? choreographs the dance segments for the show.
Fashion takes center stage with a special segment and appearance by Tommy Hilfiger. Also in the show are collections from Tracy Reese, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Just Cavalli, Calvin Klein, INC, Felina/Jezebel and 2(x)ist.
Following the fashion show and concert, guests will travel to the California Market Center for the luxe after-party. Macy?s Culinary Council Chefs Cat Cora (the only female ?Iron Chef?), Marcus Samuelsson (of soon to open Red Rooster in NYC), and Nancy Silverton (of Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza in LA) will be on hand showcasing the menu they created. All three chefs share billing at Macy's South Coast Plaza where their restaurant concepts are featured as part of Signature Kitchen. One of the city?s most in-demand disc jockeys, DJ Stonerokk will be handling the music, and guests can wander through the various party rooms all created by Along Came Mary.
The event benefits two LA County HIV/AIDS charities: AIDS Project Los Angeles and Project Angel Food. ?We are proud to support the vital work carried out by AIDS Project Los Angeles and Project Angel Food,? said RB Harrison, President and Regional Director of Stores. ?These organizations have a daily impact on those living with HIV/AIDS; providing services, education, advocacy, meals and, perhaps most importantly, compassion.?
In addition, Macy?s is partnering with Reach LA (Realistic Education in Action Created to foster Health) for this year?s event to bring 100 teenagers to Passport. Working with the newest LAUSD campus ? Central High School # 9, a visual and performing arts high school ? REACH LA will host an educational party in the school?s Black Box Auditorium, before bringing the teens to the Orpheum Theatre for the fashion show.
