'Skull Stories: The Art of Ancient Surgery' will focus on the various methods and tools used to perform trephinations and why the surgery is carried out.

'Between East and West: Folk Art Treasures of Romania' showcases the rich and diverse artistic expression of this ancient territory. The richness of Romania's related arts -- costumes, textiles, architecture, works in wood, pottery and other objects of daily and ceremonial use -- derives energy from the confluence of East and West.

Our rich holdings of photographic works tell vivid stories of photography's master practitioners and technological innovations, while demonstrating photography's ability to reveal the unseen and the unseeable. This special selection of photographs includes iconic names, such as Ansel Adams and Dorothea Lange, and introduces viewers to the compelling works by other leaders of the medium.

'Reflections' is MoPA's fifth annual youth exhibition, bringing together the work of over 40 students from San Diego County. This year's theme encourages students to consider the concept of culture through the photographic medium, including still images, collage and film. In addition to providing a venue for MoPA visitors to recognize the talents, creativity, and concerns of San Diego youth, 'Reflections' also showcases the photographic works emerging from the photography and filmmaking programs offered by MoPA's Education Department, which reach thousands of San Diego students each year.

'Seeing Beauty' explores the aesthetics of beauty, expressed through the eyes of various photographers throughout the history of the medium, including Bill Brandt, Walker Evans, Mary Ellen Mark, Edward Weston, Minor White, and Aaron Siskind. The exhibition presents a range of genres in photography, such as portraiture, abstraction, landscape, and still life.

Who are we? Where did we come from? Though we look so different, are we all related? People. Men and women. Young and old. Whoever we are. Wherever we live. We all share a common birthplace: Africa.

'Counter Cultures: The Secret Lives of Games' will showcase more than 100 games ranging from contemporary creations to classics no longer in distribution, such as Pollyanna, Camelot, and Pirate and Traveler.

This event is sponsored by the Orange County Farm Bureau.

The California Biennial brings together a large cross-section of the State's most innovative contemporary visual artists. The Biennial continues the Orange County Museum of Art's four-decade long history of presenting new developments in California art.

This exhibit features Zandra Rhodes' forty-seven haute couture costumes from the 1960s through the 1980s by this London-and San Diego-based iconic fashion designer. These costumes will reveal her process, approach to shape, color, technique and world wide influences. Zandra's work as a designer first of textiles, then of fashion, will be highlighted; and her dresses will be complemented by related textiles from the Museum's collection to emphasize the varied cultural sources of her creations.
